Foster Moreau, LSU, Tight End
This tight end class is something else. Moreau is the last athlete I’ll be discussing in this article. Moreau showcased his athleticism that definitely turned some eyes. Here were his numbers:
40 Yard Dash: 4.66 seconds
Vertical Jump: 36.5 inches
Broad Jump: 10’1″
3 Cone Drill: 7.16 seconds
20 yard shuttle: 4.11 seconds
In LSU’s run heavy offense, Moreau was used predominantly as a blocker. In some ways he mirrored Dalton Schultz’s production at Stanford. Unlike Schultz, Moreau isn’t as much of a receiving threat. He’s a big guy with an ample amount of athleticism so maybe the tables will turn?
It’s not often you see tight ends turn into big receiving threats in the pros especially if they weren’t in college. Moreau could be an exception to that rule. He has the agility, speed, and explosiveness to be a good receiver along with his solid run blocking ability.
Moreau could go higher because of his combine but like many other prospects, teams will decide his draft value mostly from his film. His stats aren’t eye popping like Fant’s, Sternberger’s, or Hockensen’s but he has the tools to be successful at the next level. It might take a creative offensive coach to get the most out of Moreau.
Sunday will be featuring defensive linemen and linebackers. In a defensive linemen group with many big names, hopefully they will light up the combine like they do on the field. Also, in a shallow line backer class, I’d like to see some players stand out and elevate their draft position.
