Dallas Cowboys: 2019 NFL Combine Saturday Standouts
Kahale Warring, San Diego State, Tight End
Let’s preface this by saying Warring should be used more as a receiver than a blocker at the next level of football. With that said, let’s look at his combine numbers:
40 Yard Dash: 4.67 seconds
Vertical Jump: 36.5 inches
Broad Jump: 10’2″
3 Cone Drill: 7.21 seconds
20 yard shuttle: 4.25 seconds
60 yard shuttle: 11.72 seconds
Some solid numbers from the former water polo, basketball, soccer, swimming, tennis, and cross country athlete. (I don’t think I’ve missed any other sports) He hasn’t played football for a very long time but he did play some in college.
Warring’s combine gives teams a reason to draft him. He’s really athletic for a receiving tight end. The team that drafts him is going to have to work on his fundamentals and make sure he is a refined route runner because he is extremely raw in that part of the game. However, if the team can do that, they could land themselves a gem.
In regards to his draft value, the combine should give teams a reason to select him earlier. The athleticism is there, the team that selects him just needs to sculpt him correctly. (I say that like it’s an easy task)
. Warring is a project player who has nice upside for a player likely to be drafted late.
