The Dallas Cowboys continued their prospect evaluation on Day 5 of the 2019 NFL Scouting Combine. Today the edge defenders, interior defensive linemen, and linebackers completed their tests. Who stood out?

The Sunday at the Combine is generally the least memorable. It doesn’t have the star power of quarterbacks and other offensive stars, but there are always intriguing defensive prospects in attendance. Also, it’s pretty fun seeing 300 pound men run really quickly.

Today was much like the previous two days. The defensive linemen and linebackers participated in all the events along with their position specific drills, which are roughly the same for both groups.

In a loaded defensive linemen and top heavy linebacker draft class, it was going to be interesting seeing these prospects run. For the most part, they impressed. There were 9 linebackers that ran sub 4.60 40 yard dashes with 4 running 4.80 and above. 5 defensive linemen (all edges rushers except Rashan Gary) ran sub 4.60 40 yard dashes and 15 ran sub 4.80.

This class does not seem to lack athleticism; there are so many athletic specimens that stood out, but this also made it easy to see those who stood out for the wrong reason. We will be discussing prospects on both sides of the spectrum.
