Upcoming Week Preview

The Stars have three games this week—all of which are at home—and two of which are against division opponents.

Dallas will host the New York Rangers on Tuesday night to start the week-long homestand. New York (27-27-11—65) is 12 points out of a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. They are 3-4-3 in their last ten games and are coming off a 3-2 overtime loss against the Washington Capitals on Sunday.

Fortunately for Dallas, the Rangers are 11-16-3 when on the road, and they currently have a -28 goal differential.

The second game of the week will see the Colorado Avalanche come to town. Colorado, who is also in the mix with Dallas, Minnesota, and Arizona at the moment, is 28-26-12—68. Currently, the Avs are on a two-game losing streak, but they are the only team in the Western Conference that is not in top three in their respective division to have a positive goal differential of +8.

Dallas has struggled against Colorado this season, having lost both games they’ve played up until this point (3-2 and 6-4). The Stars will play them on Thursday night and will host them for the final time in the regular season later in the month.

Lastly, Dallas will host the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday night. Chicago is currently last in the Central Division with a 27-29-9 record. That said, they have recovered greatly after a rough start to the season and are 5-5 in their last ten. They, like the Rangers, have a losing record while on the road.

Prospect Pool: Stars officially announce signing of OHL winger Tye Felhaber

On the first day of March, the Dallas Stars officially announced that they had signed RW Tye Felhaber of the Ottawa 67’s (OHL) to a three-year, entry-level contract.

Felhaber is fourth in the OHL in points with 100—Stars’ second-round draft pick in 2017, Jason Robertson, is second in the league with 105.

Felhaber also leads the OHL in goals with 56, is tied for second in game-winning goals with 10, and is first in “first goals” with 13. He and teammate Austen Keating are tied for first in the league in plus/minus with +52.

Division Standings: Stars mixed in with the crowd, looking to capture third-place spot in Central

The Western Conference playoff picture is going to be a sprint to the finish line; four teams (Dallas, Minnesota, Arizona, and Colorado) are all within four points of each other.

As of Sunday night, Dallas and Minnesota hold the first and second wild-card spots, respectively. However, Arizona is one win away from knocking out the Wild, and the Avalanche aren’t far behind either.
