With less than 5 weeks before the 2019 NFL Draft it is officially mock draft season. Free agency is long gone and pro days are slowly finishing up. Today I will have another go at a mock draft for the Dallas Cowboys.

This mock draft will once again be composed of all the Dallas Cowboys picks, but something different from last time is that this time we’ll be using the Mock Draft Simulator from The Draft Network. This will provide a more accurate draft and it will force me to use my resources better much like how the Cowboys will.

Free Agency has reduced some needs for the Cowboys. By signing Christian Covington, it reduces the grave need for an interior lineman. By signing Randall Cobb, the Cowboys are more likely to get better production from him than any other rookie receiver thrown into the slot. (This is assuming Cobb is healthy for more than 8 games)

This is also applicable with bringing Tavon Austin back to the lineup. When healthy, Austin provided some valuable plays in the return game. He’s fast but his hands aren’t necessarily reliable. As we know, the Cowboys have brought Witten out of retirement pretty much eliminating the need for a tight end in the early rounds.

One position they have looked to upgrade but haven’t is the safety position. Eric Berry and George Iloka have both visited the facility but haven’t left with contracts in hand. In addition, there hasn’t been much more progression in the Robert Quinn sweepstakes. (If you could call it that)

They have added Kerry Ryder as a rotational defensive lineman and re-upped Cameron Fleming and Justin March Lilliard. While they are backups for now, they are valuable depth the Cowboys have signed for a cheap price. This shouldn’t stop the Cowboys from drafting a young tackle or defensive lineman but it makes it a less serious need.

So let’s get right into it shall we?
