Dallas Cowboys Mock Draft (Every Round): Drafting the next great TE

The Dallas Cowboys have minimized their needs in free agency optimizing their ability to draft best player available in the 2019 NFL Draft
The Dallas Cowboys are following the same old script. Instead of fully committing to big named free agents or can’t miss prospects they take the safe route and play the board. They do this by modestly investing in areas of weakness during free agency, allowing them to be opportunistic in the draft.
This strategy protects them from drafting according to need. While it’s safe to say, team needs do play a part, all too often teams get in trouble when they pass over highly rated players simply because of the position in which he plays.
Team needs are as follows: Defensive tackle (3-tech), edge rusher, safety, tight end, and receiver. To a lesser degree we can call cornerback and offensive tackle needs but the degree of need is likely based on Dallas’ long-term plans with Byron Jones and Anthony Brown.
This mock draft was run using multiple simulations from The Draft Network. Also assisting in the process is the player scouting evaluations, Combine and Pro Day scores.
As always, we aren’t trying to achieve spectacular results if they’re unrealistic. But rather the best possible outcome in realistic scenarios. Since many draft boards differ greatly this isn’t always possible but it’s certainly a goal.
