RB Mike Weber

Ohio State

5’9” 215lbs

Mike Weber has been on Cowboys Nation radar for a while now. He’s not the flashy change-of-pace back so often linked with the Dallas Cowboys but rather a proven runner, with a lot of mileage and a lot of reliability.

Weber is short and stout and capable of carrying the load should something happen to Ezekiel Elliott.  Coming from Ohio State he brings with him familiarity since both Zeke and his primary back up last season, Rod Smith, came from the same offense.

He’s patient enough to let blocks develop and fast enough to bust through. He’s not the most elusive but he’s steady and slippery. He’s a decent goal line option and collected 25 touchdowns in college, but shouldn’t be seen as a primary between the number type of runner. Many scouts prefer his work outside to his work inside.

Versatility is the name of the game here. Weber is a complete back that doesn’t wow you with any one trait but also doesn’t disappoint. His receiving ability is a question, but not necessarily a concern.

The Dallas Cowboys are said to be looking for just this type of back to back-up Zeke this year. Instead of targeting a scat-back, they want a guy capable of carrying the load. With Darius Jackson the current RB2 on the roster, it’s a given Dallas will address the running back position at some point over draft weekend. Mike Weber would be a great option.
