The NFL draft is a few weeks away and the Dallas Cowboys have filled some holes nicely in free agency. The early April mock draft version 1.0 starts now.

As Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson would say, “FINALLY!…..” it is April and the NFL draft is around the corner for all NFL teams, but of course this is specifically about the Dallas Cowboys. The team has done pretty well in free agency this off-season and with the signing of Demarcus Lawrence, the team is in place to draft “best player available” at the end of the month. Let’s look at a seven round mock draft for the Cowboys.

How We Mock This

As for the ground rules, the draft was done with two different simulators, Fanspeak’s and The Draft Network’s. Multiple runs of the draft with multiple “big boards” were used. The most often picked name is the name you see. There were no trades, although I think there could be some, and all player reviews are from multiple sources (which I credit in the article) and my own tape reviews.

The other ground rules are that I didn’t reach for players just because a position or depth might be needed. I went with the “best player available” rule, with two caveats, if I think a player dropped way too far or if I had already drafted that position. We have to make this work somehow.

Remember, this is not a dream scenario mock draft, this is based on computer simulations picking for other teams.
