Round 3 – Mecole Hardman – Wide Receiver – Georgia

I struggled in this round as I think defensive tackle is a strong option here, but anyone the Dallas Cowboys brought in was usually off the board. I thought about tight end, but there wasn’t a lot on the board I think the Cowboys love. Hardman was a thirty visit and wide receiver was a heavy position brought in, so Hardman was the pick. Jaylon Ferguson and Dawson Knox are options here that once in a while would pop up.

All of the above being said, I like Hardman and think he could be a great slot receiver and kick returner. With a blazing 4.33, 40 time at the combine, Hardman would give the Cowboys a home run threat at slot that Beasley wasn’t really known for. Hardman also returns kicks really well and alleviate some of the pressure off oft-injured Randall Cobb and Tavon Austin. He is fast, quick, and agile, everything you want in a slot receiver and kick returner.

Hardman is not the strongest guy and will need work on his routes and route tree. However, he is still learning the position so it isn’t fair to say he can’t get there. Right now he is a deep threat with some ability to run middle crosses. He will need work on running the out route and in shirt space. An instant threat, that can see the field early in his career at receiver and will start right away at returner and be dangerous
