Sean Bunting, CB

I recently wrote about the Dallas Cowboys need at the cornerback position. I’m comfortable calling it a true “need” rather than just a “sneaky need” like Stephen Jones did a few days ago. I also think there’s tremendous value to be found here in the draft for the type of player Dallas is looking for.

With Kris Richard possibly coaching his last season in Dallas, I’d much rather develop someone under him now and take advantage of his tutilige rather than wait until next season when Dallas needs a cornerback to start from Day 1.

Catch up here:

light. Related Story. Why CB is more than a 'sneaky need'

Sean Bunting is one of the most aggressive cornerbacks in recent memory. At 6’1” 180lbs, he plays like a giant, assaulting receivers at the line and using transitional speed to stay in control. Pegged as an ideal Cover 3 cornerback, Bunting has some of the highest potential in the class.

With natural ball skills and ability to play with his back to the passer, Bunting could be an ideal fit in Dallas and someone Kris Richard could develop working behind Byron Jones and Chidobe Awuzie in this his rookie season.

Moving up for a cornerback seems unlikely since there are a pair of good scheme fits likely to be available to Dallas at their natural draft position of 58. Isaiah Johnson and Joejuan Williams are both players that fit into Dallas’ cover-3 scheme and the Cowboys have already shown considerable interest in both.

So while Bunting is clearly a favorite of mine, I need to admit there are other avenues to fill this need without costing Dallas additional picks
