What about safety and tight end?

Many can argue, safety and tight end would be the best positions for the Dallas Cowboys to attack if they move up in the draft. This is an abnormally deep tight end class and Jason Witten is probably only around for one more season. As such, TE makes perfect sense.

But the Dallas Cowboys don’t need a finished product right now. Heck, they don’t even need a TE2. They need a future TE1. That’s why they’re in the perfect situation to invest in a developmental prospect with a high ceiling.

Looking at the draft class, there’s over half-a-dozen of these guys who qualify as that. The good news is, they can be found in the third, fourth, and even fifth rounds of this draft. That why I’m holding out on TE early.

Similarly, the safety class is something I’d also feel good watching and waiting. The only difference is, I’m willing to pull the trigger at No. 58. There are currently about five safeties I’d feel good with (Taylor Rapp, Chauncey-Gardner-Johnson, Juan Thornhill, Darnell Savage, Nasir Adderley). I expect one or more will make it to Pick 58, therefore I’d prefer waiting rather than moving up.

If all else fails, I’ll sit back and snag a mid-round guy like Maik Gant or a late round guy like Khari Willis. I personally want to avoid Amani Hooker and Johnathan Abram because I don’t like them for where they’d need to be drafted.
