Dallas Cowboys 7-Round Mock Draft: Breaking from the norm
By Reid Hanson
In this 7-round mock draft we use the Dallas Cowboys’ reported meetings, workouts, and visits to determine which players they are targeting.
It seems everywhere we look we’re seeing mock drafts predicting what the Dallas Cowboys are going to do this weekend in the 2019 NFL Draft. This is the time of year in which consensus in the draft community is found, new ideas go extinct, and basically every draft looks exactly the same.
That will not be the case here. Sure, the names will be familiar. I’m using their reported workouts, meetings, and official visits from Pro days, the NFL Combine, Dallas Days, and 30-list to guide me (as tracked by Patrick Walker at 247sports).
There’s a reason Juan Thornhill and Trysten Hill are dominating the Dallas Cowboys mock drafts these days. They’re great players and great fits.

But there’s a great chance Thornhill will be gone before Pick 58 and Hill is a long-shot to make it to 90 either. Even if these are Dallas’ favorite players, they may not be the pick because they’ll be long gone. Therefore, I’m opening it up again and throwing out a different way this all could fall.
I’m not picking my favorite players but rather players I think Dallas really likes and who have value at their respective spots. I’ll be using Draft Network rankings and profiles to run the simulation and I’m purposely avoiding long-shot “steals” but still searching for true bargains.
Let’s get started.
