Link to Dallas: Dallas Day

Running back is perhaps the thinnest position on the Dallas Cowboys roster. Yes, Ezekiel Elliott is clearly entrenched as the starter, but behind him the cupboards are bare.

Darius Jackson may be a viable RB3 but he hasn’t done anything to make you think he’s capable of carrying the load should Zeke be unavailable. That’s why many are expecting the Cowboys to select a running back at some point this weekend.

Devine Ozigbo could be that runner.

Ozigbo is flying under a lot of radars but it’s hard to see why. Given his size, he has  great athleticism and workhorse potential. His 4.65 40-time going to push him to Day 3 this weekend but his game isn’t built on long-speed anyway.

Devine is patient runner ideal for Dallas’ running game. He waits for holes to develop and commits with one cut and head full of steam. He’s a high-character worker who fit’s Jason Garrett’s right kind of guy profile. He has no noticeable holes in his game although he could stand to improve as a receiver and pass-protector.

Short yardage is especially strong and something he can contribute in right away. Devine is the kind of player who can carry the load if Zeke is lost for an extended period of time or if Zeke needs  to catch a breather on a drive or two.

Dallas can go a number of ways here at running back but they are focusing on a workhorse type of back rather than a change-of-pace back. It’s less flashy but better ensures the future of the Cowboys offense.
