Nate Hall – Outside Linebacker – Northwestern

Nate Hall was a player I looked briefly at in the pre-draft lead up, and decided he probably wouldn’t be drafted but could be seen as a priority free agent. There are reasons he got signed after the draft, but his physical limitations will probably hurt him in his chances to stay on an NFL roster.

But there are some positives.

Hall has a nose for the ball in coverage as a linebacker. He had three interceptions this season, and all of them were pretty nice to watch. He also plays with some power and loves to get his nose into the play and hit people. He is a smart football player and that should help him a lot on this team that values football intelligence.

Hall, however, has some physical limitations in height and speed that will no doubt limit his ceiling. He also misses a lot of tackles and that will hurt him if he can’t find a way to fix this at the next level. I wouldn’t ask him to pass rush as he will certainly get wiped out of the play. His skills put him as a zone coverage guy with a knack for diagnosing a play early.
