Mitch Hyatt – Offensive Lineman – Clemson

Some people might wonder why Hyatt, an All-American, would go undrafted, and at first I thought the same thing. Then I watched his tape, and understood what scared teams off of him, even late in the draft. He is a Jason Garrett guy, and has the potential to be a depth player, but will have some work to do to get there.

I am not sure if Hyatt is a guard or left tackle at the next level, but I do know he will need more strength to play either position. He has the smarts to play both positions and understands how to technically play the position asked of him. He has good footwork and agility which allows him to pick up linebackers quickly and effectively. He will excel in a zone scheme.

Play strength is a huge issue right now for Hyatt. Clemson’s style of offense allowed for his shortcomings to be covered up, but in the NFL that could be a problem if he doesn’t add functional muscle. He is smart and plays the right way as Garrett would say, but he has some work ahead of him to be a depth player.
