Larry Allen Jr. – Guard – Harvard

I went and watched Harvard vs Yale to see what I could about Allen. At first I thought this was more about his dad, but then I realized something, the son could be a pretty good player as well. I walked away thinking Allen could stick around given a little work. He provides some depth and is a sleeper of a gem.

Watching Jr., play I couldn’t help but compare him to his father. And to my surprise he has some similar ability. He plays with a nasty streak, is freakishly powerful, and has decent footwork. You can tell he learned a lot from his dad. He is smart and one of the best linemen in the Ivy League this past season.

Allen has some power at the point of attack, but then it fades a little too quickly. He will need to work on his hand placement at the next level, but his footwork and agility are two things that jump off the screen. He can get caught upright a little bit and grabs when he is off balance. He can improve and could stick around for depth. At the very least he’s worth developing on the practice squad.
