The Dallas Cowboys are both an elite team AND underdogs

Despite having a plethora of talent on both sides of the ball, the Dallas Cowboys are not considered favorites to even win their division, let alone the Super Bowl.

The Dallas Cowboys roster is so loaded with young and upcoming talent that some critics believe this team can play in the NFC championship game. But the on the other hand, most critics don’t even believe the Cowboys will win their own division — the NFC East.

Those same disparaging critics are calling on the evil, hateful, notorious Philadelphia Eagles to win the NFC East and go to the Super Bowl.

For full disclosure, I strongly dislike the Eagles and I believe it’s in the Dallas Cowboys constitution that no Cowboys fan will/should ever pick them intentionally or willingly. (smile).

Despite all the offseason the upgrades to the Dallas Cowboys roster, the Cowboys are still the underdogs-even in their own division. Depending on which sports network you watch or sports blog you read, the haters all to frequently believe this team is no better than 9-7! For real? That has to be a joke!

If you need any proof, listen to Cowboys hater Shannon Sharpe of Fox Sports1’s “Undisputed” explain why the Cowboys will not only lose the division to the Eagles, but go 9-7!

Besides giving his co-host Skip Bayless ( a Cowboys fan) a hard time, Sharpe’s main reason for the Cowboys struggles and not winning the division is because of Dak Prescott. Sharpe believes Dak is the problem for Dallas underachieving, and praises injury-prone-never-won-anything Carson Wentz as the primary reason Philly will win the NFC East.

I guess Sharpe forgot that former Philly backup quarterback Nick Foles was the primary reason why Philly won a Super Bowl and made the playoffs the last two seasons. It wasn’t because of Wentz.

I know these pundits like Sharpe say outlandish stuff for ratings but man can you be objective at least sometimes? At least tell the truth?

My goodness!  Go ahead and keep sleeping on Dak and Dallas because I have a story I’m about tell.

Honestly, the critics believe those quarterbacks are better than Dak, and that’s why they have no love for Dallas.

The 1992 Dallas Cowboys

Before the start of the 1992 NFL season, Dallas traded for disgruntled and ultra-talented defensive end Charles Haley of the San Francisco 49ers. Then head coach Jimmy Johnson knew Haley was the final piece to the puzzle to Dallas’ defense and overall team.

But even with Troy Aikman as quarterback, Emmitt Smith carrying the rock and Michael Irvin torching opposing defensive backs, Dallas was seen as a very young team not ready to contend for a Super Bowl.

At the time, the 49ers were the team to the beat and the Washington Redskins were the defending Super Bowl champs-along with a really tough Eagles team.

The Buffalo Bills were perennial Super Bowl contenders, and the 49ers and Bills were predicted to play in the Super Bowl that year.

However, the plot twist was Dallas posting a 13-3 regular season record, winning the NFC East, defeating the 49ers in the NFC East Championship game, and blowing out the Bills 52-17 in the Super Bowl.

The critics didn’t see Dallas coming that season. The only person that knew it was coming was Johnson because he knew his team was elite unit.

Similar to ’92 Cowboys

Just like that ’92 Dallas team were the underdogs and won it all, this Dallas team is capable of doing the exact same thing. Dallas has one of the best offensive lines in the game, an All Pro running back in Ezekiel Elliott (the best in the league), playmaking wide receivers, a clutch quarterback and a top-5 dominant defense to boot.

At the moment, the critics are favoring the Eagles, New Orleans Saints, and Los Angeles Rams as better teams than Dallas and to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl

Honestly, the critics believe those quarterbacks are better than Dak, and that’s why they have no love for Dallas.

But the reality is that Dak has won more games than any of those quarterbacks except Drew Brees-although Dak led Dallas to victory over Brees.

Motivation for Dak and Jason Garrett

For the critics to continue to bash Dak as the weakest link with analytics instead of judging him as a 33-game winning quarterback, it serves as motivation for Dallas to proof everyone wrong and to win it all.

More from Dallas Cowboys

Speaking of motivation, head coach Jason Garrett is coaching for his job and NFL future. That means Garrett is going to go all out and do whatever it takes to win. Watch and see!

The players already love Mr. Clapper, so you know they’re going to play hard for him.

And if Dallas doesn’t reach a contract extension with Dak before the season starts, expect Dak to ball out so that he can cash in as one of the highest paid signal callers in the game. With Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup, Randall Cobb, Tavon Austin, Allen Hurns, and Jason Witten at his disposal, Dak is beyond capable of putting career numbers and leading this team to the promise land.

Next. Why Michael Gallup brings enormous potential in '19. dark

When you add up the talent and motivation of this group, this team has all of the trappings of the ’92 team that won the Super Bowl.

And whenever the Dallas Cowboys are a talented bunch but are the underdogs, they always win. And they win big. Like Super Bowl Big! BOOM!
