The good version of the Dallas Cowboys showed up against the Rams, but if they want us to believe, we say, do it again.

One thing Jason Garrett has said during his time with the Dallas Cowboys is to take each game one at a time. With the season hanging in the balance, the “good” version of the Cowboys showed up, and while it was great to watch, the Cowboys, and Jason Garrett, need to show they can do it again. One game at a time, but they need to show up for each one.

To be fair to the Cowboys, they had a brutal schedule the last few weeks. However, the last few weeks have been abysmal. There has been mental mistakes, miscues, just all around bad play. Far too often during the Jason Garrett era, have we seen these lapses, and now, we don’t know which version of the team will show up.

This game had everything we thought we should have seen all season. Strong defensive play held the Rams running game to 22 yards. Sure, the Rams were playing behind, but 22 yards when everyone, including me, thought the Rams would run for over 150 is something. The pass rush was strong, and coverage was tight. On offense the Cowboys were clicking, and almost had their way on every drive. There was movement, open receivers, and a running game that blew the Rams off the field.

But the win may have been as frustrating as it was fun to watch. Rolling through Twitter during the game, there was one constant question, “Why couldn’t they do this all season?” Good question, and sure, some of it was three games in eleven days. However, this was the team before that stretch. The Jets game, the Saints game, and even the Vikings game were all issues as well. Slow starts, clock management errors, coaching errors, bad playcalling, it was all there.

Then just when we all thought the Cowboys were done, they pull a Dumb and Dumber and “totally redeem themselves.” Okay, well not totally, but this was a different team. They included Blake Jarwin and Tony Pollard on offense. Sean Lee was the Sean Lee of old. Justin March-Lillard was all over the field. Chidobe Awuzie was picked on, and shut down everything thrown at him. Amazing.

More from Dallas Cowboys

With the season literally in the balance this upcoming Sunday, if the Cowboys and Jason Garrett want the noise to stop, they have to do it again. If they win, they can rest up against the Redskins and head into the playoffs, at least looking like, a dangerous team. The Cowboys that showed up against the Rams are scary, the Cowboys who showed up against the Bills, are not. A tale of two teams.

So we all wait until the Eagles game, feeling good about the win this Sunday, and ask, “Can you please do it again?” If they don’t it will certainly be the end of the Jason Garrett era. Walking into the playoffs might give Jerry Jones some pause, a win or two may change his mind on the coaching change. The NFC Championship game and beyond would keep Jason here. However, they have to win the next game, one game at a time, just do it again.
