Trevon Diggs – Cornerback – Alabama

There will be a lot of talk surrounding Kristian Fulton or Jeffrey Okudah being the first cornerback to come off the board. I like Diggs a little more for the ball skills. Fulton might be slightly better in coverage, but Diggs has the better ball skills.

Diggs has the long range speed to keep up with just about every receiver he will face. He uses his 6’2″ 200+ pound frame well and can force wide receivers to the edge. He is outstanding in man coverage and can get as physical as you need him to be. His hips flip really well and can turn upfield quickly. His ball skills are really good and he flashes hands like his brother Stefan Diggs.

He can play inside and outside and is a huge benefit on special teams. He can play both gunner and returner. He can tackle pretty well so either on defense or special teams is a benefit. At corner he had a 24.0 passer rating in his direction. Regardless of what the Cowboys do with Byron Jones, Diggs could be your number one corner if they let him go, and if they keep him, he replaces Chido Awuzie as the number two almost immediately.

What Diggs will need to work on his being overly aggressive. Sometimes it can cause him to get out of position and lose the receiver. He has to be patient and be more consistent with his tackling. He is still elite and should be seen as such, but has a few wrinkles that will need to be smoothed out.
