#5-Texas Rangers Win Their First Playoff Series (2010)

Entering the 2010 playoffs, the Texas Rangers had never won a playoff series, and the acquisition of Cliff Lee had Texas fans confident that their chance may finally be around the corner, as the team would go on to beat the Tampa Bay Rays 3-2.

The crazy thing about that series was that for the first time in baseball history that every game in the series was won by the road team. Cliff Lee went on to dominate, as the Rangers would secure their first ever playoff series win, as they fell short against the New York Yankees in the other three playoff appearances that the team made in the 90’s.

Going into the ALDS, the Texas Rangers had made three ALDS appearances, but had only beaten the Yankees one time in the three series (ten total games). The series is still important today not only because it was the first playoff series that the Rangers had ever won at the time, but because it also kicked off the beginning of a great run for the Rangers that lasted until 2016 that included the only two World Series appearances in franchise history, and an ALCS match-up with the Yankees.
