#4-Nelson Cruz‘s 2011 ALCS

Nelson Cruz completely dominated the Detroit Tigers during the ALCS. In the Rangers 4-2 series victory over the Tigers, he hit .364 with six home runs, and easily won the ALCS MVP for his astounding performance.

The most impressive of these games coming on October 11th in Game 2, when Cruz absolutely demolished a pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 11th to give the Rangers a walk-off win and a 2-0 series lead over the Tigers.

World Series defensive performance (go ahead and cringe with me) aside, the Texas Rangers probably are not making it to the World Series in 2011 without Nelson Cruz on the roster, as he absolutely carried the team, and made sure that the Rangers would be returning to the World Series for the second straight season.

In the first two wins of the series for the Rangers, Cruz hit the home run that would wind up being the difference in the game, and then hit a three run home run to push a one run Rangers lead up to four in extra innings of game four. He also hit a home run in a game six blowout that secured the Rangers their second straight trip to the World Series.
