Dallas Cowboys: 2014-present

When accounting for positional importance, it’s difficult to justify making a guard the second best player of the decade, yet Martin found a way. Martin, the Dallas Cowboys ho-hum first round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft turned out to be anything but ho-hum at all.

Since his rookie season Martin flashed abnormal power, technique, and athleticism for a guard. It was immediately clear, the former Notre Dame tackle could play any position along the O-line with success and could probably even play DT or TE if he wanted to. But like the great Larry Allen, Martin was “generational (a word I don’t throw around loosely)” at guard.

Martin has been a Pro Bowler every season of his career and an All-Pro three times. He’s managed to overcome some seriously inhibiting injuries the past two seasons and still maintain a level of dominance rarely seen.

Martin has been a top-5 rated guard by Pro Football Focus every season of his career and in the pass-happy year of 2019, he didn’t allow a single sack. Like Smith, Martin has been the best of his position group in this decade making him the cornerstone of the Dallas Cowboys strongest unit.
