Dallas Cowboys: 2013-Present

You may remember, Travis Frederick once earned the ire of Cowboys Nation simply by where he was picked. A player many of us draftnicks adored, was slated as a second or even early third round pick. Yet the Dallas Cowboys made him their top selection in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

All Frederick did since then was become the best center in the NFL. The Dallas Cowboys also earned redemption since being a first round pick comes with an extra season of team control subsequently giving the franchise one more bargain season.

As if becoming the very best at his specific position isn’t enough, Frederick also took on leadership and mentorship role when a rare auto-immune disease  stole his 2018 season and forced a career back-up to assume his starting role. Frederick stayed close to the team, attended many meetings and helped his replacement, Joe Looney, somewhat adequately fill his enormous shoes.

In 2019 Frederick made it back on the field. He understandably started the season appearing to be fraction of his former self, but as the season progressed, so did he, and by season’s end almost everyone has him back as a top-5 NFL center. Not too shabby for a guy who wasn’t strong enough to even hold his kids a year ago, huh?
