2. Luka Doncic

You might think that second might be too high for a second year player, but we’re not talking about just any second year player. Luka Doncic is special, and his play will determine the success of the Mavericks for years to come.

Luka recently played in his100th  NBA game against his idol LeBron James. In those 100 games, Luka has recorded 2,332 points, 827 rebounds and 681 assist. In doing so Luka joined Oscar Robertson as the only players in history to post 2,000+ points, 750+ rebounds, and 500+ assist over their first 100 games.

With 17 Luka has tied Jason Kidd’s franchise record for triple-doubles in a season. An extremely impressive feat for the 20-year-old, made more impressive considering there’s about 50 games left in the season. What makes Luka’s game so special is his ability to put up record-setting numbers within the flow of the offense. An offense that is on pace to be the most efficient in NBA history.

The Dallas Mavericks began the season projected to fight for a playoff spot, right now they could be fighting for home court advantage in the playoffs. What Luka has been able to do in such a short time is truly remarkable. When you’re constantly being mentioned in the same breath as NBA greats like Oscar Robertson, Kobe Bryant, and LeBron James you’re doing something right.

I’m sure it’s just a matter of time until we’ll be turning onto Doncic boulevard from Nowitzki Way to catch a Dallas Mavericks game.
