CARSON, CA – NOVEMBER 03: Darnell Savage #26 of the Green Bay Packers tackles Hunter Henry #86 of the Los Angeles Chargers as he catches a pass in the first half at Dignity Health Sports Park on November 3, 2019 in Carson, California. (Photo by John McCoy/Getty Images) /

Hunter Henry

Age: 25

PFF ranking: 14

Much like Austin Hooper, Hunter Henry is fairly one-dimensional TE who excels in the receiving portion but falls below average as a blocker (slightly worse than 2019 Witten). But like we explained, that may be just fine in Mike McCarthy’s offense.

Henry, the 35th pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, just finished a strong bounce-back season after missing all of 2018 from injury. He gathered career highs in receptions and yards this past year but he has yet to find that impressive 8 TD total from his rookie year, only catching 5 in 2019.

His drop percentage was lower than both Witten’s and Jarwin’s last year so Henry offers reliable hands in close quarters. Given his past success in the red zone, he appears to be a viable option for someone like the Dallas Cowboys who struggled inside the 10-yard line.

Hunter Henry isn’t the downfield threat but he has a highly regarded skill set that hold top-5 TE potential if he can just get a  coach to groom him. At 6-foot-5, 250lbs, Henry has the big frame you look for in a TE and with another year removed from his lost season, he stands to explode in 2020.

Pre-injury, Henry was a better rated blocker and receiver so there’s nothing to indicate he can’t once again be that well rounded top-5 tight end he was in 2017. Of all the tight ends hitting the market, Hnter Henry has the highest ceiling, but chances are you’re going to pay for it. Spotrac estimates that to be 4 years at $35,529,673 but I have a sneaking suspicion it’s going to be higher.
