UNT Prospects: EDGE LaDarius Hamilton

Hamilton is a 6’3″, 260 pounds defensive end from a small town called Corrigan, Texas in east Texas. The senior played games all four years he was in Denton amassing 122 total tackles, 28.5 tackles for loss, and 16 tackles. (15 sacks and 21.5 tackles for loss came in his last two seasons)

Hamilton lined up at 3T and on the edge as a 5T. However, Hamilton was always in a 4-point stance. Unfortunately, for someone who lines up that way he doesn’t generate much power. He gets swallowed as soon an offensive lineman gets his hands on him. The same applied in run stopping as he didn’t throw off linemen as often as you’d expect.

So what is his game? Hamilton is great rushing the passer from an edge position. His quickness makes it difficult for opposing tackles to make contact with him. This with his swipe help him get in the backfield with ease. However, the chance of this happening was a rare occurrence because he wasn’t standing up or lined up in a 3-point stance.

Outside of the quickness, Hamilton is a relatively stiff athlete and that is prevalent in the way he attacks linemen on bull rushes. He just doesn’t move anywhere. At least this proves his body control is good!
