Round 4

Isaiah Hodgins

WR Oregon State

While I’m assuming Amari Cooper is coming back to the Dallas Cowboys in 2020, I’m not sure about his long-term future with the team. That’s why as of now I think finding a player who’s capable of playing X receiver is relatively high here in the middle rounds.

Isaiah Hodges, 6-foot-4 209 lbs, has a frame you can work with on the boundry. He has strong hands, excellent jump ball skills, and an enormous catch radius. He was beast on the goalline last season, pulling in nine red zone catches in 2019.

For a guy his size, Hodges is smooth in and out of cuts but he didn’t run a complicated route tree in college so that will be an area he must work at the next level. Scouts also pointed out he’s struggled a bit getting off the line against press coverage (kinda a requirement when you play X). But his work ethic and frame indicate this is something than can be developed with some technique and weight gain.

Isaiah Hodgins isn’t a Day 1 starter or even an immediate contributor but he’s someone who won’t take long to develop and could help alleviate the loss of Amari Cooper should he move on after the 2020 season.

He’s not really fast enough to develop into a true WR1 but he catches everything in his vicinity and is a high character guy with a great work ethic who can easily develop into a WR2 in no time.
