Round 7
Quintez Cephus
WR, Wisconsin
Taking some liberties, I have Quintez Cephus falling well into Round 7 this April. Cephus stands 6-foot-1 207 lbs. He has strong hands, natural catching ability, and elite change of direction skills. He’s quick off the line and in and out of breaks. He can play inside and outside. He has deep ball ability and his agility helps him win those 50-50 balls.
So why would he fall in the draft?
Off the field concerns.

Quintez Cephus missed the entire 2018 season because he was charged with two counts of sexual assault. While players with legal issues are nothing new, a sexual assault charge is something that will remove him from most team’s draft boards altogether. Cephus was eventually acquitted of the charges, but as we know, that doesn’t always mean he’s guilt free in the situation. Details matter so I encourage anyone who has a hard stance on him in either direction to read up on it.
Cephus led the Badgers in all major receiving categories last season. He posted 59 catches for 901 yards and 7 TDs. The better the talent across from him the better his production. He’s got WR1 potential.
Fit on the Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys are in the market for a slot receiver. Randall Cobb’s a free agent and may be asking for too much money considering all the good options available in the draft. He could compete inside right away and would likely secure the job in Year 1. Give his size and experience on the sideline, he could also play some snaps outside at Z. Kellen Moore could have some fun with a Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup, Quintez Cephus trio the next few seasons.
After the combine we’ll drop a completely different mock to simulate a different strategy.
