Round 3

Donovan Peoples-Jones

Wide Receiver, Michigan

Donovan Peoples-Jones has the potential to be an elite WR in the NFL. The former Michigan star wasn’t just a 5-star recruit, but the No. 1 rated high school WR in the country. It’s safe to say he failed to live up to the hype in college – hence the availability in Round 3. But I’m of the belief he’s going to be a much better producer in the pros than he was in college (The QB situation in Michigan was really bad) and whoever drafts him is going to get an absolute steal on Day 2.

At 6-foot-2 208 lbs, he has route running, speed, strength, run after catch, catch radius, hands, plus blocking and competitive toughness. He can play all three WR spots (with big slot being his best fit as a rookie and X eventually being his permanent home).

There’s so much to love about this kid and with such a loaded class of WR this year, he’s expected to slip through the cracks. If Dallas can snag him this year, they could move on from Amari Cooper (who we expect to be tagged in 2020) a year from now and allow DPJ and Michael Gallup to lead the pass-catching corps.

DPJ is a guy who is worth moving up for since most value him as a fringe 2-3 prospect this draft season. If Dallas can trade back in round 1-2, they could use that gained capital to maneuver for Jones. But even in this scenario, where we stood pat in round 3, DPJ has the potential to fall into our laps
