Round 5

McTelvin Agim

Defensive Tackle, Arkansas

Here’s another high potential player I absolutely love on Day 3. The 6-foot-3 3017lb defensive tackle from Arkansas has 14.5 career sacks and 31 tackles for loss on his resume. He has superior athleticism for a man his size and routinely makes those around him look foolish and otherwise nonathletic.

It’s about explosion, quickness, and athleticism with McTelvin Agim. He’s not well-versed in technique, nor does he have a very deep arsenal of moves. It’s mostly raw ability and a nifty spin move that’s been getting him by.

He’s not particularly strong against the run and projects best as a pass-rushing 3-tech with the Dallas Cowboys. He has long arms and works extremely hard on the field. He’s just begging to be coached. Basically an opposite personality to Dallas top pick last season, Trysten Hill.

Agim isn’t going to be a Pro Bowl 3-tech any time soon but he has big potential and a relatively high floor on Day 3 of the draft. He’ll work into the rotation immediately and should give Dallas yet another viable player to develop.

He will join Hill, Daniel Wise, and (sometimes) Tyrone Crawford in the 3-tech rotation. Not optimal, but manageable. Note: The fact Epenesa was picked in round 1 lets Dallas use Craw a little more at 3-tech. It’s also important to point out, I’m projecting Dallas to sign a starting caliber DT in free agency, AND for Dallas to employ more 3-4 looks.
