An important event during NFL draft season is the NFL scouting combine. At it the Dallas Cowboys will formally interview 45 prospects by the end of the weekend, but of those they’ve currently interviewed, who stands out?

The NFL combine is truly a one of a kind event. For the Dallas Cowboys and 31 other teams, it gives the opportunity to conduct an interview with more than 200 prospects. For the athletes, it gives them the ability to show their athletic gifts in a competitive setting. For fans and analysts, we get to tell people whether they are “athletic enough” even though 90 percent of us could never reach their levels of athleticism. It also gives everyone the opportunity to see how well prospects are recovering from previous injuries.

Jokes aside, something that affects all three groups of individuals fairly equally are the formal and informal interviews. These show which prospects teams are interested in and what fan bases could expect come draft weekend. It is also interesting to hear some of the reactions to these interviews like Tua Tagovailoa not knowing whether the Miami Dolphins wanted him to be their franchise quarterback or not.

There is an important distinction to be made between the formal and informal interviews. Formal interviews are 18-minute interviews that happen in a “formal suite.” (Essentially an area where the team and players can chat in private) Informal interviews are in a common place and after 10-15 minutes, a horn will sound signaling the end of the interview.

Each team is only allowed 45 formal interviews and can informally interview as many as they need. The topics discussed in the formal and informal interviews also vary as the interviews aren’t always about X’s and O’s.

All the Cowboys formal interviews will be posted on CowboysWire, but the ones who have been interviewed by the time I finish writing this article are listed below:
