Round 2

Denzel Mims

If the Dallas Cowboys decide to load the defense in the first round but want want to add speed to their offense in the second, then there are some options here: KJ Hamler, Brandon Aiyuk, and Denzel Mims are all possibilities to be on the board when Dallas goes on the clock.

Mims ran a 4.38 40 and is well known to Big 12 fans. Mims is another receiver who can take one to the house, but is a slightly different player than Ruggs.

Mims is taller and bigger than Ruggs and could play outside earlier if needed. While his route tree needs work coming from a Big 12 offense, his speed and ability to use his body are positives. His biggest strength is his hands and catch radius. You can throw a ball up and Mims will have a good chance to catch it.

Mims needs to work on the route tree, but with a little work could be instant depth if Amari’s foot issues arise again. He’s not a gadget guy but he is a bit of a project. Whoever drafts him should not expect him to start from Day 1. There’s a lot to learn and he needs to be seen as a long-term solution not just a quick fix.

Mims is a clear upgrade in depth and would bring more speed and size to the receiving corps.
