Dallas Mavericks: How the Southwest Division will soon be the best in NBA
By Fred Rooters
The Dallas Mavericks and the rest of the Southwest Division is loaded with young stars and soon figures to be the best division in the NBA.
During the player announcement for the NBA Rising Stars game, something stuck out to me, a lot of these guys are in the same division as the Dallas Mavericks. The Rising Stars Game is a game of the all the top up-and-coming rookie and sophomore players in the NBA. Seven players in the rising star’s game call the Southwest Division home.
This is made more impressive when you consider guys like Dallas’ Jalen Brunson, Memphis’ Grayson Allen, and New Orleans’ Jaxson Hayes, and Nickeil Alexander-Walker were left off the roster. With the young talent in Memphis, New Orleans, and Dallas, the road to the championship could very well go through the Southwest Division in the near future.
The Southwest Division dominated the rosters of the Rising Stars game. Just take a look. These Southwest Division standouts figure to be the elite players over the next decade:
Luka Doncic, Dallas Mavericks
Ja Morant, Memphis Grizzlies
Jaren Jackson Jr., Memphis Grizzlies
Brandon Clark, Memphis Grizzlies
Zion Williamson, New Orleans Pelicans
Nickeil Alexander-Walker, New Orleans Pelicans
Nicola Melli, New Orleans Pelicans
The Pelicans, Mavericks, and Grizzles aare all loaded with young talent. It’s because of this we expect these teams to be among the best in the very near future. Let’s take a deeper dive into these three teams, shall we?
