Round 3

Rounds two and three in the draft are slightly difficult to predict at corner. Corners are a position group that sometimes goes earlier than expected and sometimes later. This class is pretty solid through the first three rounds so having a guy here or there drop wouldn’t be a huge surprise. Names like Troy Pride Jr. Bryce Hall, and Darnay Holmes are all in this area of the draft. But for fit, Damon Arnette might be the better option.

Arnette is a guy that can play both man and zone, while some of the other names listed tend to be one or the other. Arnette has the better range than Pride, more man coverage ability than Hall, and better size than Holmes. Arnette is a guy who can do what you ask of him in man or zone. While he has better length than Pride, he still isn’t near the guys in the first two rounds. He can hang with almost ever number two receiver and some ones, but the top of the NFL could be a problem for him.

Arnette is a good find in the third round as long as you aren’t expecting him to be your top corner right away. He can step in and be your number two quickly, but do not expect him to shadow the best receivers week in and week out.
