Round three is a little thin in this draft and the two names to look at here are Rashard Lawrence and Larrell Murchison. For what the Cowboys are looking for, Lawrence will be the guy I would look at here. He offers something different than the first two guys, but still something the Cowboys need.

Lawrence is not the traditional old-school nose tackle, but has the size and power to play a 1-technique defensive tackle. He can stack blocks and occupy centers well. He is hard to push off the ball and would be stout against the run. He will hold up at the point of attack well and eats a lot of real estate. One of the reasons the Cowboys got gashed in the run game was their tackles were too often trying to get upfield and not hold the line up for the linebackers to hit the holes.

Lawrence doesn’t have the perfect size or length, but would be an early down or obvious run situation player pretty early. He shouldn’t really be expected to get a lot of pressure from the inside, but could allow for blitzes with his ability to stack blockers well. He may not be the flashiest, but he would get the job done.
