The Dallas Cowboys need some athletes that play the cornerback position and are expected to look to the draft to fill the holes. With seven rounds available at their disposal, who are the names of cornerbacks that we could hear in each round?

It is now T-19 days before the NFL Draft. It is also one of the few sports-related events going on during the pandemic meaning more eyes might be watching than ever. The Dallas Cowboys are not timid when it comes to big stages, and hopefully, they can knock all their seven picks out of the park.

The team had many players hit free agency this March. While the team had more cap space at the start of the offseason than in previous years, the front office has been very particular about how they spend their money. Value additions always seem to be the name of the game, however, this year the front office has hit us with some big names like Dontari Poe, Gerald McCoy, and recently signed Aldon Smith.

However, as we know, free agency doesn’t fix all the team’s holes, so we always pay close attention to the NFL draft.

Yay, teambuilding!

Here was my last article about defensive tackles that followed the same format.

Today we will be looking at the best available cornerback in each round of the 2020 NFL draft. With Byron Jones’ departure from Dallas to South Beach, the team will be expected to draft at least one in what looks like a loaded cornerback class. Even the re-signing of Anthony Brown wasn’t enough to alleviate the concerns at cornerback.

This article in some ways is a mock draft as the cornerbacks that end up on this list were available for the Cowboys in said round according to The Draft Network’s Mock Draft Simulator. Scheme fit will be taken into consideration, but considering the state of the defensive backfield, I’d like to attack with a “best player available” mindset. For that reason, some picks might feel like reaches while others will feel correctly valued.

Also, the best player available is decided by the TDN big board. The round grade I assign to a player may be different than what TDN gives, hence you will see some players who were ranked lower by me drafted higher in this mock.

I also will not be trading picks to move up for someone. That would defeat the purpose of this article and with the number of holes on the team I also expect the Cowboys to trade back in the draft at some point.

Let’s dig in!
