Round 4, Pick 114

WR Van Jefferson

Florida

Receiver is expected to provide tremendous value here on Day 3. With so many highly rated WRs this year, multiple guys are going to be available. As long as Dallas isn’t picky, they can find someone here who can contribute right away.

Van Jefferson is one of my favorite options for Dallas in the 3rd and 4th round. The 6-foot-2, 197lb receiver from Florida is a brilliant route runner. He’d be a Day 1 starter on the Dallas Cowboys in the slot and he has the potential of also contribute outside (just in case Dallas wants to move Amari Cooper, who is not a turd, around to exploit match-ups.

The only reason Van Jefferson slips is because he just had surgery and his numbers aren’t great. He’s older and hiss ceiling isn’t as high as others and that’s going to turn some teams off. But for a team like Dallas that wants an instant starter inside, he’s perfect because his floor is so high.

It may seem crazy to draft a receiver after waiting so long to make their second selection but the value is here and Van Jefferson may be the most impactful player they could find at this point in the draft. Besides, Dallas has two more picks in the fourth round along with a pair of selections in the fifth. There’s time to fill out this roster.

Van Jefferson is so desirable here in the fourth, I’d have no problem using one of my picks to move up to the top of Day 3 to make sure I got my starting slot receiver.
