Dallas Cowboys Mock Draft: Trade Down Scenario (7-Rounds)
Round 7 – Pick 231
Braden Mann, Punter – Texas A&M
One thing the Cowboys need is special teams help. In 2019 the Cowboys had a historically bad special teams and the punting was not good. I usually don’t like spending a draft pick on a kicker, but gaining some extra picks in the trade allowed this pick to happen without sweating the depth.
Mann has a career average of about 49 yards, although his production did go down in 2019. He has good directional skills and can tackle well in the open field as a punter. He can kill the ball well and is a weapon to flip the field. The issue with Mann is he sometimes outkicks coverage.

The Cowboys need to bring in a punter to compete in 2020 and Mann is the best punter in the draft. With some extra picks grabbing Mann keeps him out of the undrafted free agent territory where teams like the Lions will be looking as well. Not always ideal, but in this draft ends up being a luxury.
Wrap-up
The Cowboys could look to double up on wide receiver but someone like Aaron Fuller could be available after the draft. His size might make him drop and with his concentration drops he could be available. He has the speed to break one and his kick returns are really good. But he can drop easy passes sometimes.
The Cowboys could look to trade down in the first and the Patriots are a target if they are looking for a young quarterback. There are some needs for the Cowboys that won’t get filled in the draft, but undrafted free agency offers opportunities for some depth. Defensive line looks to be a focus area for the team as does cornerback.
With a little over a week until the draft a lot of smokescreens will start being put out. Teams do not want other teams to know what they might do and in this draft it could be stranger than many other years. This is one of the harder drafts to predict, but there is a ton of talent throughout.
