Dallas Cowboys Mock Draft: Trade Down Scenario (7-Rounds)
Round 3 – Pick 87
Chase Claypool – WR – Notre Dame
Again safety is an option here, but Claypool offers something the Cowboys need and is one of the best players available here. With his 4.42 forty time and ability to play both the slot and outside, he provides depth at a position that needs it, and the ability to instantly play in the slot. He should also be able to provide kick-off returns and with his unique blend of size and speed will give some options.
Claypool will be able to leverage his size in the slot and has the straight-line speed to break one open. He isn’t the best route runner and sometimes allows balls to get into his body, but his hands are good and he doesn’t drop a ton of balls. His ability to play outside will help if Amari Cooper misses time again this season and he could be lined up anywhere on the field.
Claypool needs to work on the route running as he won’t win a ton of separation on more agile corners, but can use his body to overcome any issues until he gets better. He would be a huge boost to the team in the passing game and should give options where the Cowboys have needed them.
