In this Dallas Cowboys 7-round mock draft the Cowboys see an elite prospect fall into their laps and they decide to embrace the high scoring offense and go full-on 40-burger.

In case you’re not familiar, “40-burger” means 40-points per game. The idea of being a 40-burger offense means you are planning to win by outscoring the opposition. A noble concept, to be sure, and one that was most recently executed by the Super Bowl winning Kansas City Chiefs.

The 40-burger conversation has been an ever-present argument raging in not only Dallas Cowboys draft circles, but team circles around the league. Fans have been learning what the analytics community has been screaming for years, “Offense wins in the NFL!”

Yesterday I presented the case for why the Dallas Cowboys need to improve their offense this season. I show the numbers and cite previous studies that point to building a dominant offense. Once you have the QB, dominant offenses are easier to build, require less players to work, they have more stable success  game to game and season to season, and account for more wins and losses than dominant defenses do.

And in the Dallas Cowboys case, that player will not only improve on Randall Cobb’s production from last season, but position the Cowboys down the road when they have to pick between Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup.

At the end of the day, the Cowboys will have a chance to improve both offense and defense this draft, even if they pick a top-3 WR with Pick 17. I’ll show you how…
