Dallas Cowboys

Round 1 – Pick 22

Trevon Diggs – Cornerback – Alabama

(Trade with Minnesota at 22 – Cowboys receive 22, 89, and 132. They give up 17 and next year’s 6th)

I think the Dallas Cowboys are looking for an early corner and while a name like Kristian Fulton could be a possibility, I think they like Trevon Diggs. Diggs may not the fastest corner in the draft, but his size and ball skills are really outstanding and he can handle bigger receivers. He is also a good tackler for a corner and would support in the run game better than other prospects in this draft.

Diggs was a former receiver who also can return kicks. He has really good ball skills and has the size to compete for 50/50 balls. He will need some help from the safety due to his length, but in zone will excel and loves to make plays on the ball. Sometimes gets a little aggressive, but very fixable and should be a boost for a defense that needs playmakers.

DIggs will be an instant contributor and with an upgraded pass rush and better safety play, should be solid for his rookie year. He probably won’t be your number one corner until next year, but should get playing time quickly and would probably be the second corner day one. His ball skills and ability to play bigger receivers would be huge for this defense.
