Complete Dallas Cowboys Mock Draft: Final Edition (with trades)
Dallas Cowboys
Round 3 – Pick 82
Chase Claypool – Wide Receiver – Notre Dame
With his 4.42 forty time and ability to play both the slot and outside, Chase Claypool provides depth at a position that needs it, and the ability to instantly play in the slot. He should also be able to provide kick-off returns and with his unique blend of size and speed will give some options.
Claypool will be able to leverage his size in the slot and has the straight-line speed to break one open and exploit Cover 2. He isn’t the best route runner and sometimes allows balls to get into his body, but his hands are good and he doesn’t drop a ton of balls. He has the ability to play outside which will help if Amari Cooper misses time again this season but he’s universally valuable because he could be lined up anywhere on the field.
Claypool needs to work on the route running as he won’t win a ton of separation on more agile corners, but can use his body to overcome any issues until he gets better. He would be a huge boost to the team in the passing game and should give options where the Dallas Cowboys have needed them.
