Dallas Cowboys

Round 4 – Pick 123

Jonathan Greenard – Edge – Florida

With the uncertainty at defensive end with Randy Gregory and Aldon Smith not reinstated from suspension yet, and neither having played in a few years. And with Tyrone Crawford penciled in as the starter currently, defensive end/edge, is a need. While the Cowboys could go defensive end early, they could easily wait if they know more about Gregory and Smith than we do.

Greenard projects more as a defensive end than a linebacker, but an edge none the less. He isn’t overly explosive off the edge, but moves well in short areas and has a nose for the ball. He is a really strong tackler and looks to rip the ball out when he gets the chance. He sets the edge well and all sources say he has a good football IQ.

Greenard had a wrist injury in 2018 and that might have some issue with his point of attack at times. However, he has the tools and length to become an eventual starter on the edge and would be a solid addition to a rotation while he learns more about the position. A solid depth player and potential starter.
