Rico Dowdle

Running Back – South Carolina

Rico Dowdle has had an up and down college career. He has an injury history and has had some fumble issues. However, when Dowdle is healthy and gets to make a cut and go, he is a solid running back. He isn’t the fastest guy, but has enough to get to the edge and turn the corner on the outside.

Dowdle does some really good things as a running back. He has the juice to get to top gear quickly due to a powerful first step and has really good vision to make cuts and avoid tacklers. He has a solid spin move and tends to fall forward for extra yards pretty consistently. He has good size and motor as a running back.

Dowdle is not a guy you should not ask to be in pass protection or receive out of the backfield consistently. He gets over his feet too much in the open field and doesn’t have the best elusiveness in short space. He is a one cut and go runner who will need to work on carrying a the ball tighter. He is a depth player and will probably need a year or two on the practice squad to be a more complete running back.
