Stephen Guidry

Wide Receiver – Mississippi State

Stephen Guidry is a very raw receiver who has decent top speed but struggles with consistency. When Guidry puts it all together he is a solid receiver with some deep threat possibilities. He has the ability to work both inside and outside but needs to develop a more dynamic route tree to be considered more than a depth player.

Guidry has the ability and speed to get over the top on defenses quickly. While he isn’t great over the middle, he is good against press coverage and getting downfield. Flashes good ball tracking and catching, but his lapses are mildly concerning in terms of consistency. He is a willing blocker, but not very consistent in doing so.

Guidry has to become more consistent and put an end to his concentration issues over the middle. He makes some good catches but sometimes contact disrupts him through the entire catch process. Despite his speed he doesn’t get a lot of separation which is partially due to his footwork and route tree. He is a developmental receiver right now.

The Dallas Cowboys are clearly loaded at the top of their WR depth chart but do have some opportunities down the hierarchy. They have a track record of rewarding roster spots to the most deserving so the opportunity is there. But given his rawness and the players currently ahead of him, winning a roster spot in 2020 would be an extreme log-shot.
