Garrett Marino

Defensive Tackle – UAB

Garrett Marino does one thing, and one thing really well, he rushes the passer. Marino is one of those guys that you ask to pin his ears back and go. Not the biggest defensive tackle, his motor makes up for his size. He is not a typical interior defensive lineman, and that is okay.

Marino has pretty good hands and looks to understand more of the technical aspects of the position. Some of it may be he has to learn those things to be successful, some of it may be his personality, but odds are it is a mix of both. Literally at this point he is a B-gap pressure guy and not much else.

Marino would fit on the Dallas Cowboys as a developmental 3-technique under tackle. He’s too undersized to be a very good option as anything else. His future is a rotational inside guy in obvious pass-rushing situations.

Don’t ask Marino to be a run stopper. He can get pushed around pretty well by larger interior linemen in the run game. He doesn’t have the best length so he needs to be smart about his pass rush technique and plan. At this point Marino is a practice squad player who will either need to add size, or move to defensive end.
