Why the Dallas Mavericks could steal an NBA title Reason No. 2:

Youth

As stated in Reason No. 1, a fast start is critical in moving up the standings. There’s no time to lose in an 8-game regular season. That’s where youth comes in.

With Kristaps Porzingis and Luka Doncic, the Dallas Mavericks have the two of the youngest stars in the playoffs. Compared to the rest of the league, the Mavs have a clear advantage in the youth category. As older players struggle getting back into game-shape, Luka and KP will own a decisive advance.

Never underestimate the power of young legs.

Youth will help them get up to speed quicker, it will help them recover in the inevitable back-to-backs, and it will help them play more minutes per game throughout.

We all know, as the importance of the games increase so do the minutes of the superstars. Benches inevitably get shorter and All-Stars log their most playing time. Typically this happens late in the season and in the playoffs.

With such a long hiatus to the 2019-20 season, veteran players will struggle jumping into their old workloads, let alone bump up to playoff-level minutes.  This is where Luka and KP have an advantage. They’ll be able to get in game shape faster than their older counterparts, and they’ll be able to recover in between games quicker. In the end they should be able to shoulder a bigger share of the load while older star players try to ramp up. That’s a huge advantage for the Dallas Mavericks
