Dallas Cowboys: Receiver (5)

Amari Cooper

Michael Gallup

CeeDee Lamb

Cedrick Wilson

Devin Smith

Just like they did at running back, the Dallas Cowboys could opt to go thin at WR in 2020. Choosing quality over quantity, Dallas doesn’t need to keep extra WRs on the roster because they know nearly all of their snaps will be going to Cooper, Gallup and Lamb. In case of injury or 4-wide packages, they need to elevate someone of course, they just don’t need to go deeper than five.

The WR4 spot is Cedrick Wilson’s spot to lose. He can play all three receiver positions, has put on a ton of extra muscle, and is known as a great teammate and coaches dream. As long as he can stay healthy, he’s making the team.

In last month’s Final 53, we had Jon’Vea Johnson snagging the last roster spot. That was based on his speed and superior route-running but conditioned upon him eliminating the drops that plagued him last season.

But let’s say he doesn’t correct those drops and the Dallas Cowboys decide they can’t trust him, no matter how brightly he flashes in other areas. Then I see Dallas going the safe route and giving speedster Devin Smith the job.

Either way I think the Cowboys will load their practice squad and bump a guy up each week on game day.
