The Texas Rangers made some rather interesting additions in the MLB Draft.

Most draft “experts” skewered the draft that the Texas Rangers had, as most, if not all of their picks, seemed like reaches. Nonetheless, we will take a look at all five of the players that the Rangers drafted, what their ceilings/floors look like, and when we can expect to see their Texas Rangers debuts.

Also, I would like to provide a friendly reminders for you Rangers fans that are down on this years draft class because of where the selected players were ranked by sources…

No. 1: There is a reason that the people that make these draft rankings work for places such as ESPN, MLB Network, Fox Sports, etc., and are not part of a MLB team’s scouting department or front office (no offense given to them, as some likely could be in that spot, and I have even less room to talk than they do).

No. 2: Nothing is guaranteed in a MLB draft. In baseball, there is not going to be a Zion Williamson or LeBron James that comes up destined to dominate from day one of their careers. Only one #1 pick in the draft has ever been inducted into the Hall of Fame-Ken Griffey Jr. MLB players come from all over, as not every first round pick is guaranteed to even play a game in the majors.

No. 3: This year’s MLB draft class is going to be really weird when it’s looked back on in 25 years, as over half of all of these players’ seasons were shortened due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic is going to cause awkward scouting results, especially for high school picks, as they’re basically being scouted for a little bit of their senior year, but mainly for how they performed their junior years.

With that being said, let’s take a look at the draft picks made by the Texas Rangers!
