Dallas Cowboys Final Roster Projections: TE and O-line

Dallas Cowboys Tight End (3)

Blake Jarwin, Dalton Schultz, Blake Bell

Can’t imagine the Dallas Cowboys going more than three deep at tight end. Even though McCarthy has been known to keep four TEs on his teams and has spoken of his desire to run more creative  personnel, the talent just isn’t there to justify a TE4.

Blake Jarwin is about to break out in a big way as a pass-catcher, but I also expect Dalton Schultz and Blake Bell to get plenty of snaps as blockers. It’s perfectly reasonable to expect either of those blocking specialists to be the sole TE in some 11 packages and offer more than your typical TE2 or TE3.

Blake Jarwin is the Cowboys best red zone threat and someone who’s going to post career numbers nearly everywhere this year. His evolution is going to be fun to watch and his only limits are his blocking ability as an inline TE.

Dallas Cowboys Offensive Line (9)

Tyron Smith, La’el Collins, Zack Martin, Connor Williams, Connor McGovern, Joe Looney, Tyler Biadasz, Adam Redmond, Brandon Knight

I’m trusting the progression of Adam Redmond and Brandon Knight to seal Cameron Erving’s fate here. I was tempted to hand the job of flex-lineman to Erving (he can play 4 of the 5 O-line spots) since the preseason was cancelled, but after watching some of his film again – I couldn’t bring myself to do it.

Erving is versatile, yes, but he’s also below average across the board. Like a rusty turnstile, he’ll inconvenience defensive linemen but he’s not going to stop them. I’m betting on the ceilings of Redmond and Knight here instead.

As for the rest of the spots, Williams will probably win the LG spot and Looney will probably be given the C spot. I wouldn’t be surprised though if McGovern or Biadasz displaces Looney at some point in the season.
